Hood, Grilles and Central Lights
Step 4.1
Retrieve your Front Face assembly from Kit 1. Fit the Main Grille to the back side of the Front Face assembly, as shown.
The ‘bend’ in the center of the Main Grille should be facing out (see arrow below):
Secure this grille into place with two (2) DS03 screws.
This is your friendly reminder to try using 3-in-One Oil on all screws going into metal:
Step 4.2
Slide the tab of the Lower Grille Left Headlight down into this opening of the Front Face assembly, as shown.
Both of these Headlight parts are the same, so you can use either one here:
Step 4.3
Secure the Lower Grille Left Headlight to the Front Face assembly from behind with one (1) DS02 screw:
Step 4.4
Repeat Step 4.2 with the Lower Grille Right Headlight, as shown:
Step 4.5
Secure the Lower Grille Right Headlight to the Front Face assembly from behind with one (1) more DS02 screw:
Step 4.6
Take a Headlight LED harness and press the LEDs into the backs of the two right-side Headlights.
The two Headlight LED harnesses are not the same; we want to use the longer one marked ’02’ here:
The LED with four connected wires should be inserted into the back of the Lower Grille Right Headlight, as shown:
Then, the LED on the end of the harness should be inserted into the back of the Right Headlight:
When finished, the wiring should look like this:
Step 4.7
In the same way, take the shorter Headlight LED harness and press the LEDs into the backs of the two left-side Headlights.
The LED with four connected wires should be inserted into the back of the Lower Grille Left Headlight, as shown:
Then, the LED on the end of the harness should be inserted into the back of the Left Headlight:
Step 4.8
If we follow the instructions in this step, these lower headlight wires would get trapped between the Lower Grille and the Front Face. However, there appeared to be enough room behind the lower headlights to feed the wires through. So, I removed the Lower Headlights and the wiring and carefully bent the lower LED to fit the shape of the headlight. Then, it was just a matter of slipping the wires back through the hole and re-attaching everything:
Doing this made the main headlight wire just a little short, so I needed to carefully bend that LED as well:
Then, I repeated this mod on the right side headlights. I think this just makes the front end of our Eleanor a little cleaner:
Fit the Lower Grille to the back side of the Front Face assembly as shown, and secure in place with two (2) DS02 screws.
Thoughts
Another kit, another mod! Nothing crazy this time, just cleaning up the wiring. We did not use the Hood in this kit, but it is really beautiful! The stripes are great and the chrome hood pins are already installed for us.
