Door Trims and Sill Guards

Step 106.1

Retrieve your Body assembly from Kit 104. Press the  pins of the Right Door Trim into the matching holes along the top edge of the right-side door opening, as shown.

I used the hard handle of my screwdriver to make sure these Trim pins were fully seated:

Step 106.2

Press the three pins of the Right Sill Guard into the matching holes along the bottom of the right-side door opening, as shown.

These Sill Guards curve up at the rear edge, so this should help you determine which side is which:

Step 106.3

Like before, press the pins of the Left Door Trim into the matching holes along the top edge of the left-side door opening, as shown:

Step 106.4

Similarly, press the three pins of the Left Sill Guard into the matching holes along the bottom of the left-side door opening, as shown:

Step 106.5

Retrieve your Left Door assembly from Kit 13. Fit the post of the Door Hinge into the matching hole at this location at the front of the left-side door opening.

There is a small amount of adjustability in the Door positions within their openings. On my model, I fit the Door and used some low-tack tape to hold it in what I felt was the proper place until we secure it in the following steps, as shown:

Step 106.6

Retrieve your Right Door assembly from Kit 18. In the same way as before, fit the post of the Door Hinge into the matching hole at this location at the front of the right-side door opening:

Step 106.7

Carefully turn your Body assembly upside down. Then, secure the Left Door into place from the inside with one (1) DS12 screw.

This is your friendly reminder to try using 3-in-One Oil on all screws going into metal.

Step 106.8

Secure the Right Door into place from the inside with one (1) more DS12 screw:

At this point, we should be able to open and close both Doors of our Eleanor Mustang. On my model, there seems to be a bit of play in the Hinge inside the Doors so they tend to drop a bit when open. However, this does not affect the look or operation of the model in my opinion:

Thoughts

Just like that, our Eleanor body is almost complete. All we have left to do is install the headliner with its sun visors and mirror before adding the lower rear valance. In the next kit, we will even attach the Body to the Chassis!
