“In this phase you will assemble the leaf spring and the spring holders on the rear chassis of your Eleanor Mustang model.”
This kit follows the the same process as Kit 28, just on the right side of the car.

Right Leaf Spring and Holders
Step 33.1
Retrieve your Chassis assembly from the previous kit. Fit the Right Spring Rear Holder to this location on the Chassis assembly.
This only fits correctly one way, as shown:

Secure this Right Spring Rear Holder in place from the other side with one (1) PS05 screw:

Fit the Right Spring Front Holder to this location on the Chassis assembly, as shown.
It doesn’t seem to matter which way this holder is installed – it appears to be the same on both ends:

Secure this Right Spring Front Holder in place from the other side with one (1) PS05 screw:

Fit the Right Leaf Spring between the tabs of both the front and rear holders, as shown.
Ensure the correct orientation of this Right Leaf Spring by ensuring this hole in the leaves is over the axle, as shown:

Press one of the Pins through the hole in the outside tab of the Right Spring Rear Holder, through the loop on the rear end of the Right Leaf Spring, and into the hole of the inside tab, as shown.
These Pins have a smooth end (arrows below) and a knurled end. The smooth end should go into the holes first. You will definitely need a tool with a strong grip to push these in, such as pliers. It takes some finagling to get them all the way in:

In the same way, press the other Pin through the hole in the outside tab of the Left Spring Front Holder, through the loop on the front end of the Right Leaf Spring, and into the hole of the inside tab, as shown.
You may have to press the leaf spring down towards the Chassis to make it straighter so the front holes line up:

Place the Right Spring Middle Holder over the two ‘u- bolt’ posts of the Rear Axle 1, aligning the center pin into the hole of the leaf spring, as shown:

Secure the Right Spring Middle Holder to the Rear Axle 1 with two (2) PS09 screws:
Thoughts
This kit finishes up the rear suspension of our Eleanor Mustang. It is not the most complex I have built on a partwork model, but for a 1967 Mustang, it is fairly accurate. Let’s keep going!
