Gearbox Cover and Support Bracket
To add a little bit of color to the all-silver Gearbox Cover, I used my handy Metallic Gold Sharpie to ‘paint’ the drain plug and bolt heads:
Step 41.1
Retrieve your Chassis assembly from the previous kit and carefully turn it upside down. Fit the narrow end of the Gearbox Cover over the forward end of the Transmission Shaft assembly, then fit the two posts of the Gearbox Cover down into the matching holes of the Chassis:
Steps 41.2-41-3
Secure the Gearbox Cover to the Chassis from above with two (2) PS05 screws, as shown:
Step 41.4
Fit the Gearbox Support Bracket across the Gearbox Cover, aligning its posts to the Chassis as shown.
This can be fitted in either direction, it is the same either way:
Steps 41.5-41-6
Secure the Gearbox Support Bracket to the Chassis from above with two (2) PS05 screws, as shown:
Thoughts
This Eleanor Mustang is one of those partwork vehicle models that only includes the bottom half of the transmission (gearbox) unlike my Ghostbusters Ecto-1 or Back to the Future DeLorean where we build the entire transmission. To be fair, we will seldom look at the bottom of the car once it is completed.
