Rear Deck Base and Carpet
Step 69.1
Press the two posts of the Deck Carpet into the matching holes of the Deck Base, making sure the two corner holes are aligned as shown:
Step 69.2
Retrieve your Interior assembly from the previous kit. Fit the posts of this Deck Base assembly down into the matching holes at this location on the Rear Luggage Platform, orienting it as shown:
Step 69.3
Secure this Deck Base into place from below with two (2) PS05 screws:
Step 69.4
Fit the keyed post of the Left Seat Back Lock into this matching left-side hole of the Deck Carpet, as shown.
These Seat Back Locks appear to be identical parts, so they can be installed on either side:
Secure this Seat Back Lock into place from below with one (1) PS14 screw:
Step 69.5
In the same way, fit the keyed post of the Right Seat Back Lock into this matching right-side hole of the Deck Carpet, as shown:
And, secure this Seat Back Lock into place from below with one (1) more PS14 screw:
Step 69.6
Retrieve your Rear Folding Panel assembly from Kit 63. Fit the pins on either end of this Panel into these matching holes of the Lower Rear Trim Panels, as shown.
BUILD CHANGE: I actually installed this Rear Folding Panel back in Kit 67 so it would be easier to install. Check that page for more details.
Step 69.7
This Rear Folding Panel should now be able to be folded up and down to expose or hide the rear seat.
While this is a realistic feature of a 60s Mustang, I feel that Eleanor would be light and fast and therefore have no back seat at all. I plan to display my model with the seat folded down to mimic this effect:
Step 69.8
Retrieve your Extinguisher assembly from Kit 52. Firmly press the two pins of this Extinguisher into the matching holes at this location between the front seats, as shown:
Thoughts
I believe this completes our construction of the main Interior section of our Eleanor Mustang. We can now move on to building and installing our Steering Wheel and Tachometer.
