Fan Housing and Blades
After we finished the previous kit, I couldn’t help but feel that our Radiator was going to much too dark to see the nice details. Therefore, once this month’s shipment arrived, I retrieved the Radiator assembly from the last kit, pulled the Fan Motor/Mesh from the Radiator Honeycomb, and airbrushed that Honeycomb (and the the Front Honeycomb from the next kit) with Vallejo Model Air 71.062 Aluminium Metallic acrylic paint:
Once the Fan Motor/Mesh was reattached to the Radiator Honeycomb, I was instantly pleased with the results!
Take note of this small locating hole (arrow below) as it will be important in the first step of this kit:
Step 75.1
Retrieve your Radiator assembly from the previous kit. Fit the four posts of the Fan Housing into the Radiator assembly, as shown.
To ensure proper orientation, there is a small alignment pin on the Fan Housing that fits into the small locating hole of the Radiator assembly:
Steps 75.2 – 75-5
Secure the Fan Housing to the Radiator assembly from the other side with four (4) PS05 screws:
Finally, just to add something interesting to look at, I dug out my Metallic Sharpies to highlight some of the small details of the Fan Blades. I used silver on the tiny blade bolts and gold on the larger center bolts:
Thoughts
One quick part to attach and we are done! The Radiator assembly will be needed in the next kit so keep it nearby, but the Fan Blades are not needed until Kit 78 so set them aside for now.
