Washer Fluid Pump and Hood Locks

NOTE: I slightly changed the order of these steps from the magazine to make the process easier.

Step 94.1

Press the D-shaped pin of the Windshield Washer Connector into this matching hole of the Windshield Washer Tank Filler, as shown.

This is not the Windshield Washer Tank. Remember the Windshield Washer Reservoir ‘bag’ we added to the left side of the engine bay? Instead, I feel like this part is the expansion tank for the engine’s cooling system:

Step 94.2

Fit the D-shaped post of the Windshield Washer Piping into the matching hole of the Windshield Washer Pump, as shown.

Yeah, no. I am pretty sure this is the receiver/drier of the air conditioning system:

Secure the Washer Pump to the Piping with one (1) PS12 screw. This screw is installed inside the Pump, as shown:

Step 94.3

Retrieve your Body assembly from the previous kit. Fit the tab of the Windshield Washer Pump assembly to the matching hole at this location on the Chassis Front Support Panel, orient the part as shown, and then secure it into place with one (1) DS06 screw.

This is your friendly reminder to try using 3-in-One Oil on all screws going into metal:

Step 94.4

Carefully turn your Body assembly upside and and place it on a soft surface. Fit the pin and post of the Left Hood Pin Bracket to the matching holes at this left-side location of the Front Support Panel.

The two Pin Brackets are not the same, here is the difference between them:

On the inside of the Front Support Panel, fit the hole in the tab of the Windshield Washer Tank Filler assembly to the same hole where the post of the Pin Bracket is, orienting it as shown.

As you fit this part, the small pipe of the Windshield Washer Connector should be fed into this small hole (circled):

Secure the Tank Filler to the Pin Bracket with one (1) PS14 screw, attaching both parts to the Support Panel as shown:

Step 94.5

Fit the pin and post of the Right Hood Pin Bracket to the matching holes at this right-side location of the Front Support Panel:

Secure this Pin Bracket into place from the inside with one (1) PS17 screw:

Step 94.6

Gently turn your Body assembly upright and open the Hood. Feed the wire of a Hood Locking Pin up through this hole of the Left Hood Pin Bracket, as shown:

Gently bend the end of the Locking Pin wire around the Pin Bracket.

While the instructions seem to want us to wrap this wire around the Bracket a few times to secure it, I simply crimped the wire to the rear of the Bracket and applied a tiny drop of super glue to keep it there:

Repeat this process with the Right Hood Pin Bracket and remaining Hood Locking Pin:

Step 94.7

Close the Hood and clip the Hood Locking Pins to the matching pins on the Hood.

Each of these Locking Pins has a ring and a metal hook:

To install them, first slide the hook end (with the hook opening up) through the slot in a Hood pin:

Then, bring the ring over top of the Hood pin and latch it into the hook, as shown:

Thoughts

These Hood Locking Pins do not like to stay ‘latched’ during normal handling of the Body assembly. To help with this, I gently bent the middle of the wires to bring them closer to the ground when the Hood is closed. This has helped a lot.
