Special Issue #1

Throughout the subscription build of their 1:8 scale Eleanor Mustang partworks build-up, Eaglemoss offers some ‘Special Issues’ for purchase. These issues are automatically sent, and are billed in addition to the monthly subscription. If you do not wish to receive them, you must notify Eaglemoss in advance via phone at (800) 261-6898 or via email at customerservice@eaglemoss.com.

This first Special Issue is a 1:24 scale die-cast version of our Eleanor Mustang from Greenlight Collectibles.

I was charged $25.95 USD for it and it arrived in a few days. The rubber tires rotate, the doors open, and the detail is quite good.

Unfortunately, the trunk and hood do not open and there is no engine. In the model car world, this is typically called a ‘curbside’ style.

Ironically, this is not an item unique to our build as you can just buy it on Amazon, but it is still a nice gesture. I tend to have smaller scale models displayed with my large partwork cars, so this will make a nice addition to my collection!

Free Gift #4

If you signed up for the subscription-based version of this Eaglemoss 1:8 scale Eleanor Mustang model build, you will receive five FREE gifts along the way. The first gift is was a Poster, the second a Collector’s Binder, and the third a Full-size Metal License Plate. The fourth gift this Heated Travel Mug.

This is a insulated metal mug with built-in 12V heater to keep your beverages toasty! The handle and removable lid are plastic. It includes a cigarette lighter adapter and a decent length of cable. On one side are the Eleanor and Gone in 60 Seconds logos:

The opposite side has a cute quip about the consequences of not locking your car:

This is actually one of the nicer gifts I have received along with a partwork model. I am sure it will see some use! The remaining gift to arrive (at least in the USA) is the Display Base.

Free Gift #3

If you signed up for the subscription-based version of this Eaglemoss 1:8 scale Eleanor Mustang model build, you will receive five FREE gifts along the way. The first gift is was a Poster and the second was a Collector’s Binder. The third gift is this Full-size Metal License Plate.

This is a metal replica of the plate seen on the car in the Gone in 60 Seconds film. It arrived loose in the shipping box, but was wrapped in plastic. It is embossed around the letters and appears to be painted with the graphics. Not too bad for something free. Do be careful though, the edges are extremely sharp!

The remaining gifts to arrive (at least in the USA) are:

  • Heated Travel Mug
  • Display Base

Free Gift #2

If you signed up for the subscription-based version of this Eaglemoss 1:8 scale Eleanor Mustang model build, you will receive five FREE gifts along the way. The first gift is was a Poster and here we have our second gift, this Collector’s Binder. These binders can be used to safely store your magazines after you use them.

While the first Collector’s Binder is free, future binders are shipped at extra cost and will be charged to your credit card automatically during the build. If you are not interested in receiving these additional binders, let Eaglemoss know by calling their Customer Service department.

The remaining gifts to arrive (at least in the USA) are:

  • Full-size Metal License Plate
  • Heated Travel Mug
  • Display Base

Shop is Open!

I have had many visitors ask about the tools and supplies that I use to build my partworks, so I have created a ‘Shop‘ over at my main build site with Amazon links to most of the items I have used along the way. All proceeds go towards supporting my site costs, not for profit. I hope you all find this helpful!

  • Heated Travel Mug
  • Display Base

3-in-One Oil

If you are building any of the die-cast metal large scale models out there, you are probably familiar with the pain around driving screws into metal parts. In my experience, some of these screws have a tendency to bind up, strip threads, or simply snap off. Not only does it cause frustration, but it could cause a long delay in your build waiting for replacement parts.

For a while now, I have read about other builders that were using a little oil on their metal screw threads to help reduce the risk of damage and the effort needed to seat these screws fully. Up until this point, I had taken my time to carefully pre-thread metal screws, but it turns out they were on to something. I recently picked up some 3-in-One Multi-Purpose Oil (from the WD-40 Company) and it has changed everything!

I simply dip the tip of each metal screw into a tiny drop of this stuff and they go right in and without any drama. I should have done this sooner! If putting a little oil on the end of a metal screw is not feasible, you can also use a toothpick or other small tool to apply the oil directly into a screw hole before installing the screw.

I highly recommend grabbing a bottle of this oil (or other similar lubricant). It will surely save you time and headache!

“See ya tomorrow night, Eleanor, with your fine ass.” – Donny, Gone in Sixty Seconds

I am not typically interested in the classic Ford Mustangs, but both of the Eleanor fastbacks are beautiful machines.

This Eaglemoss 1:8 scale Mustang Eleanor is based on the hero car from the 2000 film Gone in Sixty Seconds starring Nicholas Cage. I signed up for this partwork back in April 2020 and it should start shipping in February 2021. We are almost there, so check back soon!
