Brake Disc Update

For those of us building this 1:8 scale Eleanor Mustang, we may have received solid disc brakes with our deliveries. These were supposed to be cross-drilled/slotted brake discs but this oversight was not corrected by Eaglemoss until much later in the build, and only to a few of the countries they sold to. Well, since Fanhome took over the build, they are giving us the chance to receive the corrected parts. Thanks to BAC over at Fanhome, he has provided this update:

I have an update on the brake discs for our USA/UK/DE customers.

 

First up, any new builders who have recently signed up for this stunning build will be sent the upgraded version automatically in the corresponding stages so there is no need to take any action or need to contact the service team.

 

For returning customers (those with partial builds):
If you have received this version of the brake disc previously:

 

You can request an upgraded version as seen here:

 

From the previous companies records we understand this was already offered to active builders (in the UK and Europe and was sent out on request) and anyone who signed up in 2022 does not need to request these as they had already been replaced in the assembly stages.

 

As we have a limited number of these can I ask you only request them if your truly need them, as once they are gone, they are gone as this is left over stock and no more will be produced as mentioned above it’s been replaced in the running order already.

 

For returning customers who are between issue 1 to 9 you can request via email for the upgraded version to be added to issue 10 (assembly stages 35 to 38) – please send the email request to the following address:
quoting this code CORRECTBRAKE. When your 10th issue is processed, these will be included in your parcel.

 

If your next due issue is between 11 to 27 you can request via email for the upgraded version to be added to issue 28 (assembly stages 107 to 110) – please send the email request to the following address:
quoting this code CORRECTBRAKE2. When your 28th issue is processed, these will be included in that parcel.

 

For builders who has reached issue 28 or beyond the process is different – please send an email to the following address:
with a request to send you the upgraded version of the brakes, you must include your sub number, name, telephone number, email address and FULL postal address. At the end of each month, we will arrange for them to be posted out in batches.

 

Please note that we can only expect these requests via email and not over the phone as this is being handled via a different team.

I emailed Fanhome support about my own model and quickly received a response:

The Eleanor is BACK!

The last time I received any parts for my 1:8 scale Eleanor Mustang partwork build-up was November 2021. Then, in July 2022, the entire distributor Eaglemoss/Die-Cast Club just flat went out of business.

Now, after more than a year, our Eleanor is returning back to life through Fanhome! And thankfully, they are allowing ex-Eaglemoss subscribers resume our subscriptions from any point after Issue 1 – in my case the next shipment will be Issue 16 with Kits 59-62.

As of right now, they can only ship to the USA, UK, and Germany. The links to sign back up can be found below:

Shipments are expected to begin by the middle of March in the USA, but as early as the end of January 2023 for UK/DE customers. Additionally, Fanhome has said that FREE GIFTS will be included along the way, but they may be different than what Eaglemoss offered.

I have had a great experience with Fanhome so far and am looking forward to completing my Eleanor Mustang!


UPDATE May 25, 2023:

I have received my first shipment of the Eleanor from Fanhome containing Kits 59-62. Therefore, the build will resume here shortly!

Also, Fanhome has said that returning US/UK/DE ex-Eaglemoss customers will have until around the end of 2023 to re-subscribe. This is to allow for excess stock to be released in other countries. If you have not subscribed yet and plan on it, now would be the time. If needed, you can subscribe and contact Customer Service to put up to 3-months hold on your deliveries.


UPDATE April 12, 2023:

Fanhome has announced that this build will go LIVE on April 26, 2023 in the US/UK/DE. The payment/shipping process should occur automatically for those customers who have already re-subscribed. If you need to subscribe, head over to the Fanhome website.


UPDATE April 24, 2023:

A new update from Fanhome has been provided:

As you may have seen we have sent out the promised emails with an update for both collections (Eleanor and DeLorean) on Friday to confirm the go live date was moved from the 24th to the 26th of April for builders in the USA/UK & DE.

 

On the 26th we will be releasing the collections one at a time to make sure there are no issues or bugs, payment requests will happen automatically, and you can keep track of your order via our friendly customer portal. If you don’t see a payment request on the 26th please do not be concerned as it may take a day or two to show on your payment method.

 

Eleanor update
Some good news to start with, we have no returning customers who will be affected with any out of stocks issues when this collection goes live on Wednesday. Some customers (34 in total) in the USA who are due issue 9 will receive a plain disc brake, however later issues will have the upgraded drilled versions. We will be offering a replacement part for this item and will update you once confirmed how to request it. This action was taken as we did not want to hold up anyone’s build for this one part. All other disc brakes have been upgraded and issue 9 will also be upgraded in a future production run. We are also shipping to USA packets of four upgraded disc brakes for any retuning customers who have not yet upgraded and will provide more details once available on how to claim them. (UK/USA and DE)

 

Special Issue #3

Throughout the subscription build of the Eaglemoss/Die-Cast Club 1:8 scale Eleanor Mustang partwork build-up, Eaglemoss offered some ‘Special Issues’ for purchase. These issues are automatically sent after a notification email and are billed in addition to the monthly subscription.

The first Special Issue was a 1:24 scale Eleanor and the second one was a Wall Clock. This time, I received an email regarding another Special Issue – a Clear Acrylic Cover for the Display Base:

Kits 59+ Delayed

Sadly, due to an out-of-stock Issue 16 magazine for Kits 59-62 at Eaglemoss, our Eleanor Mustang build is on hold for the foreseeable future.

Eaglemoss Customer Service USA did post this to Facebook on November 22, 2021 regarding the latest status:

Good morning,
Today I am focusing on the status of the Mustang Eleanor build stock levels
There is no stock available for the following stages as of this morning:
stages 17/68
Magazine – for stages 35 to 38
Magazine – for stages 59 to 62
(Please keep in mind that stock levels change throughout the day)
If you next shipment includes any of the above stages/mags than I am sorry to say that we will not be able to dispatch until the stock is available.
Currently inbound we have the following stages:
23/24/25/26/27/28/29/30/31/32/33/34/35/36/37/38
Free gifts
Screw box/License Plate/Travel Mug top-ups also included in these containers.
Stages from 71 to 90 are also included in the above update as the highest available stage now is 70.
The above was/is due to reach US soil from 10th Nov into the new year across several containers.
Once these stages are in the system, your shipments will resume as normal. If you are not waiting on the above stages and have not received a parcel for some time this may be due to a “free” item being out of stock.
We advise that there is at least a minimum of 14-day difference from port to warehouse and once on site the stock will be booked into our system.
USA subscriptions are set up differently from the EU/UK and any “free bonus” items are locked into the cycle, this means the service team are not able to skip if out of stock. I arranged for the introduction of an IOU notice as a trail run, this has now been adopted for most of our subscriptions. If any “free bonus” item is out of stock an IOU will be included and once that item is available, it will be included in your next parcel.
I hope the above helps to explain the current stock status for this build.

UPDATE March 30, 2022: A general update from the Eaglemoss Customer Service USA page on Facebook:

Hi
You may all be wondering why I have not been posting of late stock updates for our active collections.
We are in the process of transitioning to our new warehouse. Right now, we are not going to be able to give you accurate stock information or guaranteed shipment dates.
While we are working to restock our merchandise as quickly as possible, we are also preparing for the move. Some of our restocked merchandise is being delivered to the new warehouse in preparation.
We may show an out-of-stock pop up for you right now when you call in. Until our move is complete the inventory counts and availability is only showing for one of the warehouse locations. This means anything is in stock at the new warehouse is not going to show as available to our agents until the move is complete.
While we are starting with the oldest collections stock levels are changing so much giving a clear figures now would be confusing and misleading.

UPDATE July 12, 2022: Today, Eaglemoss Limited (parent company of Eaglemoss US supplying this model) has filed for bankruptcy.

Special Issue #2

Throughout the subscription build of the Eaglemoss/Die-Cast Club 1:8 scale Eleanor Mustang partwork build-up, Eaglemoss offered some ‘Special Issues’ for purchase. These issues are automatically sent after a notification email and are billed in addition to the monthly subscription.

The first Special Issue was a 1:24 scale Eleanor and the second one is this Wall Clock. It is about 8″ square with a black wooden frame enclosing a metallic speedometer face. The three-handed clock mechanism is battery powered. I was charged $35.95 USD for it and I actually think it is actually a very nice product!

Free Gift #5

If you signed up for the subscription-based version of the Eaglemoss 1:8 scale Eleanor Mustang model build, you were supposed to receive five FREE gifts along the way. The first four consisted of a Poster, a Collector’s Binder, a Full-size Metal License Plate, and a Heated Travel Mug. The fifth and final gift is this Display Base which arrived with my shipment of Issues 9 and 10 (Kits 31-38).

The Display Base consists of a fairly simple black wooden frame. The frame is finished with a matte lacquer paint and the corner seams are filled pretty well. It is 27″ W x 14-1/4″ D x 1-9/16″ in size, but the plague mount at the front adds another 7/8″ of depth. At the front, there is a glossy faceplate with the Eleanor logo in full color (under a protective film in this image):

This design is slightly different than what is advertised on the Eaglemoss website (shown below), but it is perfectly acceptable:

I won’t be using this base as my partworks are in a display case, but it is a nice plinth to display the completed model on!

Special Issue #1

Throughout the subscription build of the Eaglemoss 1:8 scale Eleanor Mustang partworks build-up, various ‘Special Issues’ were included for purchase. These issues are automatically sent, and are billed in addition to the monthly subscription.

This first Special Issue was this 1:24 scale die-cast version of our Eleanor Mustang from Greenlight Collectibles:

I was charged $25.95 USD for it and it arrived in a few days. The rubber tires rotate, the doors open, and the detail is quite good.

Unfortunately, the trunk and hood do not open and there is no engine. In the model car world, this is typically called a ‘curbside’ style.

Ironically, this is not an item unique to our build as you can just buy it on Amazon, but it is still a nice gesture. I tend to have smaller scale models displayed with my large partwork cars, so this will make a nice addition to my collection!

Free Gift #4

If you signed up for the subscription-based version of the Eaglemoss 1:8 scale Eleanor Mustang model build, you were supposed to receive five FREE gifts along the way. The first gift was a Poster, the second a Collector’s Binder, and the third a Full-size Metal License Plate. The fourth gift was this Heated Travel Mug.

This is a insulated metal mug with built-in 12V heater to keep your beverages toasty! The handle and removable lid are plastic. It includes a cigarette lighter adapter and a decent length of cable. On one side are the Eleanor and Gone in 60 Seconds logos:

The opposite side has a cute quip about the consequences of not locking your car:

This is actually one of the nicer gifts I have received along with a partwork model. I am sure it will see some use! The remaining gift to arrive (at least in the USA) is the Display Base.

This is a metal replica of the plate seen on the car in the Gone in 60 Seconds film. It arrived loose in the shipping box, but was wrapped in plastic. It is embossed around the letters and appears to be painted with the graphics. Not too bad for something free. Do be careful though, the edges are extremely sharp!

The remaining gifts to arrive (at least in the USA) are:
